"US Internet diffusion levels off"
04/16/2003 Entry
Given that the Current Population Survey hasn't had a Computer and Internet Use Supplement since September, 2001, we're lucky that other organizations also conduct surveys about national Internet use. A report released today by the Pew Internet and American Life Project suggests that Internet diffusion in the US has leveled off at around 60 percent. Although there are new people going online, similar numbers are deciding to abandon Internet use so the overall figure hasn't increased. As to likelihood of being online, the report's findings are consistent with the story told by some graphs I posted a while back: lower income, lower education, rural and Southern residence and older age are all associated with lower levels of connectivity. The Pew report only discusses the relationship of connectivity to these factors one variable at a time so it is unclear how important they are when controlling for other factors. [Thanks to Gábor Pór for pointing me to a piece that led me to this report.]

Hi,
(I wanted to write an e-mail, but I didnt find the address, so I am writting here - sorry.)
I read through your hompage, your CV, your researches, publications, artwork - and I find it very impressive and very interesting. The only question is that how can you do so many things at the same time? I mean do you have time for friends, holidays, reading etc? Or is it just an (p)optical delusion - the quantity of your works on a list tricks me. (?)
wishing the best, Judit

Hi Judit. I think the secret to having time for all this is not having a TV. Yes, friends are an extremely crucial part of my life, I think some of my photo albums make that clear. Otherwise, I purposefully don't comment on more private aspects of my life on here.
