"Another sociology blog"
06/24/2003 Entry

I like the name of this blog: Socio[b]logue. Unfortunately, it's in a language I do not understand much. I'm posting a link nonetheless because I really do like the name a lot and the number of Spanish speakers out there is substantial so perhaps others can benefit.

UPDATE [6/25/03]

Socio[B]logue author points out in the comments that I can't even tell Spanish and Portuguese apart (in a polite way, but that's the lesson for me to take away in any case). That's sad. However, it does explain why I felt I understood less than I thought I'd understand of Spanish text.

Thank you Eszter for your kind comment. The blog in question (Socio[B]logue) is Portuguese. I've placed an online automatic translator (Portuguese-English, from systran) so that non-Portuguese speakers are able to catch a glimpse of it. It's not much, due to the problems associated with automatic translations (they're really dreadful)... but at least it's something. So, you are free to drop by whenever you feel like it.

Blogs I Visit

The small print

A few words on what I will and will not post on this blog (taken from my E-LIST entry of January 2, 2002). I have nothing against posting commercial sites as long as they come highly recommended. In fact, I'm quite interested in improving informed consumer choice so I'm very curious to hear about good experiences with online retailers. What I will refrain from posting are sites that require plug-ins or programs that are painful to deal with. Example: I will not post anything that only works with RealOne/RealPlayer as that program is intrusive and annoying beyond belief and I am not willing to reinstall it on my machine (it was hard enough to get rid of it completely in the first place) nor do I want to encourage others to have it. If your site has audio content, please make it available in multiple formats or choose one that can be run on multiple players (e.g. .avi).
