"Blogathon 2003 on Eszter's Blog!"
06/30/2003 Entry

I have decided to participate in Blogathon 2003. Others run or bicycle for charity, I have decided to blog for it instead. I have committed to blogging for 24 hours straight from 9am (US East coast time) on Saturday, July 26th to 9am on Sunday, July 27th. If you are in my geographical area, please plan on stopping by to keep me company. Otherwise, I hope you will join me virtually at some point during the event.

My charity of choice is Planned Parenthood. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America works toward assuring that people all over the world have the freedom to make reproductive decisions. They do this by providing access to services and education. You can read more about their mission statement here.

I plan to devote at least some of my posts during Blogathon 2003 to related issues with pointers to relevant material on the Web.

If you would be kind enough to sponsor me - any amount is appreciated and goes to an important cause! - then please click here and make a pledge. You will be asked to make a pledge and follow up on it after my participation in the Blogathon. (It may be best to check out my Blogathon 2003 page first before you proceed for some additional notes on the process.)

I will maintain a separate blog for the event at this address:

Blogs I Visit

The small print

A few words on what I will and will not post on this blog (taken from my E-LIST entry of January 2, 2002). I have nothing against posting commercial sites as long as they come highly recommended. In fact, I'm quite interested in improving informed consumer choice so I'm very curious to hear about good experiences with online retailers. What I will refrain from posting are sites that require plug-ins or programs that are painful to deal with. Example: I will not post anything that only works with RealOne/RealPlayer as that program is intrusive and annoying beyond belief and I am not willing to reinstall it on my machine (it was hard enough to get rid of it completely in the first place) nor do I want to encourage others to have it. If your site has audio content, please make it available in multiple formats or choose one that can be run on multiple players (e.g. .avi).
